ONE OF THE best parts about going to a sports summer camp is the possibility that you will be visited by a ‘celebrity’ on the last day.
Sometimes, the famous face comes in the form of a 20-year-old Alan Brogan, whose attempt at a 45 goes over a park fence.
Other times, you get treated to two of Irish rugby’s most mesmerising attackers ever. Actually, three if you count the teenager in the middle.
Brian O’Driscoll and Denis Hickie stopped by the Rugby and French camp outside Biarritz a couple of years ago and they likely didn’t realise the potential of the kid that stood between them.
The two lads are obviously enjoying the weather in the south of France but take a second to rejoice in Denis Hickie’s marvellous head of hair.
The funny thing about the picture is that since Fitzgerald started playing professional rugby at 18, he was probably catching passes from O’Driscoll and Hickie within three or four years of that photo.
Why write an article about a player and have the last 2 paragraphs about his old team.??????? Ran out of things to write?
@Ken MacEoin: well done on getting that far down the article
