LIVERPOOL HAVE RELEASED a one-sentence statement on their website saying that they will take time to review FIFA’s official report before making any further comment on Luis Suarez’s four-month ban.
While there is a chance that the striker and the Uruguayan FA will appeal FIFA’s ruling, Liverpool are currently set to suffer for their player’s offence while on international duty, given that a four-month ban would extend into the opening months of the 2014/15 season.
Suarez’s importance to the Premiership club was underlined in the 2013/14 campaign, when the 27-year-old scored 31 league goals to help Liverpool to second place in the final standings.
However, Brendan Rodgers will have to plan for the start of the new season without his main attacking influence, as the FIFA suspension is scheduled to run until the end of October. Such a ban rules him out of nine Premier League fixtures and three Champions League group ties, as well as a League Cup encounter.

Rumours continue to link the gifted forward to a move away from Anfield, with Barcelona and Real Madrid both having been mentioned as possible destinations.
