Luis Suarez banned 'from any football activity' for four months

The ban amounts to four months away from the football field.

LUIS SUAREZ HAS received a nine-match ban from all forms of international football following a FIFA investigation on his biting of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The world footballing body has banned the Uruguayan striker for his country’s next nine games and added a four-month suspension, ‘from any football activity’. He is even prohibited from entering any stadium Uruguay are playing in until the ban runs out.

FIFA spokeswoman Delia Fischer said the ban would be effective immediately, which rules him out of the rest of the World Cup. Uruguay take on Colombia in the second round on Saturday.

“Such behaviour cannot be tolerated, especially during World Cup,” declared Fischer.

The Liverpool forward has also been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (€82,000) for his indiscretion in Uruguay’s final pool game.
