Good afternoon and welcome to Croke Park for a double-header of Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-finals.

All-Ireland champions Dublin open their campaign in a couple of hours but first, it’s Louth v Kildare.

Throw-in is in just under 10 minutes.

There’s one change to each side from the teams named earlier this week. Shane Lennon replaces Brian Donnelly for Louth, while Padraig Fogarty comes in for Tomas O’Connor in the Kildare forwards.

11. Niall Kelly
12. Padraig O’Neill
13. Eamonn Callaghan (c)
15. Paddy Brophy
26. Padraig Fogarty

Kildare 0-1 Louth 0-0: 1 mins — We’re up and running as Cathal McNally kicks the first point into the Hill 16 end.

Kildare 0-2 Louth 0-0: 2 mins – Superbly taken point by Paddy Brophy from 40ish yards out. Fast start by Kildare.

Kildare 0-3 Louth 0-0: 4 mins — Superb work by Padraig Fogarty who wriggles past Mick Fanning and feeds Cathal McNally. The goal chance looks to be on but he punches it over the bar instead.

Kildare 0-3 Louth 0-1: 5 mins – John O’Brien kicks Louth’s first score of the afternoon.

7 mins – Great save by Neil Gallagher to deny Niall Kelly at the back post. Padraig Fogarty is proving to be a right nuisance to Mick Fanning who has dropped back to mark him.

He manages to force his way inside but can’t get his shot away and squares to Kelly. His attempt to palm it past Gallagher is saved.

Kildare 0-4 Louth 0-2: 9 mins — Shane Lennon fields a high ball under the Hogan stand and kicks a point, but it’s cancelled out moments later as Fogarty points a free for Kildare.

Kildare 0-5 Louth 0-3: 12 mins – Adrian Reid shovels it off to Louth skipper Paddy Keenan and he kicks a fine score, bouncing it off Mark Donnellan’s bar and over.

At the other end, the Louth defence is all over the shop and Niall Kelly waltzes down the left for an easy point.

13 mins – Bad wide by Derek Maguire for Louth. He’d done all the hard work to get out in front of Ollie Lyons but couldn’t hit the target on the turn.

Kildare 0-6 Louth 0-3 — 14 mins: Niall Kelly grabs his second point from play to stretch Kildare’s lead to three.

GOAL FOR KILDARE! Kildare 1-6 Louth 0-3 (McNally, 15′) Well, that’s been coming! Kildare take the lead with a sharp started and finished by Cathal McNally.

He sidestepped John O’Brien and then linked up with Keith Cribbin and Padraig Fogarty before sliding in at the back post to punch it home.

Kildare 1-7 Louth 0-3: 17 mins — This is getting away from Louth very quickly. Fogarty turns Adrian Reid without any difficulty and kicks the score.

SUBSTITUTION: James Stewart is on to replace Mick Fanning for Louth.

19 mins — Brian White tries to wriggle his way inside but his fisted effort is turned behind by Mark Donnellan to give Louth a 45.

Kildare 1-7 Louth 0-4: 21 mins — White’s 45 comes back off the right upright and drops to Shane Lennon who points it at the second attempt.

Kildare 1-9 Louth 0-4: 22 mins — Great save by Gallagher to deny Fogarty Kildare’s second goal of the afternoon, but you get the feeling that it might be vain all the same. Ollie Lyons was the creator, and he’s on hand to point the rebound.

Lillies captain Eamonn Callaghan follows up with another point after some neat passing in the half-forward line.

Kildare 1-10 Louth 0-4: 25 mins – Keystone cops defending by Louth and it eventually ends up with Keith Cribbin with his back to goal, pointing it over his head into the Hill.

Before that there was another good stop from Gallagher to deny Fogarty, and Padraig Rath needed to be alert to clear a second goal-bound effort off the line.

Kildare 1-11 Louth 0-5: 28 mins — Another simple score for Kildare as Padraig O’Neill points under no pressure.

Keenan kicks Louth’s first score in seven or eight minutes at the other end following some good work by Adrian Reid.

Kildare 1-12 Louth 0-5: 30 mins — Mark Donnellan hasn’t had a huge amount to do but he was alert there to deny Conor Grimes under a high ball.

Tommy Moolick tacks on another for Kildare. They lead by 10 as we near the break.

HAWK-EYE! The technology is needed to rule on an effort by Padraig Fogarty and it shows that the umpires correctly waved it wide.

SUBSTITUTION: Louth make their second change — Ryan Burns on for Brian White.

34 mins — That might be the first bit of decent defending we’ve seen from Louth today. Paddy Brophy tries to get inside Dessie Finnegan but he does enough to hold him up until John O’Brien gets across to strip him of possession.

Kildare 1-13 Louth 0-5: 35 mins – Emmet Bolton goes for power over placement when in on goal and it flies over Gallagher’s bar.

At the other end, Ryan Burns has a great goal chance as he shows Hugh McGrillen a clean pair of heels but he handpasses it directly into the net.

HALF TIME: Kildare 1-13 Louth 0-5

Back in five.

SECOND HALF: We’re back underway and it’s teeming down in Croker. The Dubs fans have started to arrive on the Hill and the brolleys are up!

37 mins – Great chance for Shane Lennon who bundles past Mick Foley and fires in a shot on goal but it’s at a nice height for Mark Donnellan who saves.

Kildare 1-14 Louth 0-5: 41 mins — Padraig Fogarty kicks the opening score of this second half, a free.

SUBSTITUTIONS: A change apiece. Eoghan O’Flaherty comes on to replace Cathal McNally for Kildare while for Louth, it’s Brian Donnelly on for Patrick Reilly.

Kildare 1-17 Louth 0-5: 48 mins — O’Flaherty kicks a point with his first touch, Paddy Brophy adds another following a fine ball in from Padraig O’Neill, and Emmet Bolton tacks on a third.

GOAL FOR LOUTH! Kildare 1-17 Louth 1-5 (Lennon, 50′) Ryan Burns loops a ball into Lennon and he turns to fire past Donnellan and add a small bit of respectability to the scoreboard.

Whether Burns meant the pass or not is another thing, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

SUBSTITUTION: Eoin Lafferty is on to replace Derek Maguire for Louth.

Kildare 1-17 Louth 1-6: 54 mins – Lovely score from Conor Grimes. He’s been quieter in that full-forward line than Louth might have hoped, but it’s a fine point.

SUBSTITUTION: Alan Smith on to replace Sean Hurley for Kildare.

Morgan Treacy / INPHO Morgan Treacy / INPHO / INPHO

Kildare 1-18 Louth 1-6 — 57 mins: Another fine score by Emmet Bolton, his third of the afternoon from play. Not a bad haul from corner-back.

Kildare 1-19 Louth 1-6: 60 mins — Alan Smith points and Kildare lead by 13 as we enter the final 10 minutes.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Shane O’Hanlon is on to replace Brian Donnelly for Louth. Kildare make two changes of their own — Tomas O’Connor on for Padraig Fogarty, who gets a deserved ovation, and Daryl Flynn for Eamonn Callaghan.

Kildare 1-21 Louth 1-6: 64 mins – Another for Alan Smith, his second since coming off the bench, and Paddy Brophy tacks on a simple free.

SUBSTITUTION: Emmet Bolton, another man who has been very impressive today, goes off to be replaced by Ciaran Fitzpatrick.

Robert Brodigan is on for Declan Byrne for Louth.

Kildare 1-22 Louth 1-7: 68 mins – Shane Lennon’s free from a few moments ago is cancelled out by Niall Kelly at the other end.

We’re into the first of two minutes of added time here in Croker.

FULL TIME: Kildare 1-22 Louth 1-7

All over here in Croke Park and Kildare saunter on through to the Leinster semi-finals.
