LONGFORD TOWN GRABBED all three points late on when Ayman Ben Mohamed stepped up from the bench to inflict a second straight defeat on Bohemians on Saturday evening.
An early goal from David O’Sullivan was cancelled out in the second-half by Keith Buckley but the Longford substitute stole the show in the closing minutes to push his side into the top half of the table.
Longford broke out of the blocks quickly in the opening stages and the visitors struggled to cope with the early pressure.

The fast start paid off almost instantly when Mark Salmon played a delightful pass through to O’Sullivan. The forward collected the ball on his right side and from inside the box slotted into the bottom corner with Dean Delaney unable to get down in time.
The Town’s pressure continued with Bohemians struggling to re-organise from the early attacking display of the hosts. Shaw nearly doubled the hosts’ advantage when new signing Jack Doherty produced a well placed corner but Delany was equal to the effort and pushed the ball out of harms way.
Bohemians did however enjoy a small passage of play before the break.
Anto Murphy’s long throw was met by Robbie Creevy his header from close range was deflected away by Paul Skinner.
The game restarted with a completely different sense of tactical play. Both teams lacked attacking intent and appeared to be content to wait for a mistake to pounce upon.
This style of play wouldn’t attract any keen viewers but it did allow the away team back into the contest. Ismahil Akinade ran at the Longford defence and his pressure allowed Buckley to find space at the far post to pass the ball into the empty net.
The away team continued their onslaught and were unlucky not to grab the winner on several occasions. They ended up paying for their errors when Ben Mohamed came off the bench and, completely against the run of play, diverted a Pat Sullivan shot home.
