They built up a strong first-half 1-12 to 0-4 lead, before Kilmoyley launched a valiant second-half comeback only to come up three points short ultimately.
In the Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship second round, Clonoulty Rossmore beat Eire Og Annacarty 3-18 to 1-17, while Carrickshock defeated Erins Own 3-14 to 0-19 in the first round of the Kilkenny Championship.
Meanwhile, in the SHL final in Kilkenny, O’Loughlin Gaels overcame Rower-Inistioge 1-18 to 2-13 in Thomastown.
In addition, Robert Aherne, Shane Aherne and David Grey were among the scorers, as Stradbally beat Ballinacourty 1-10 to 1-6 in the Waterford SFC semi-final.
And in Group 2 of the Donegal SFC, Sean MacCumhaill lost out to Ardara, with a final score of 2-7 to 0-13, while Four Masters beat Glenfin 2-13 to 0-7. In Group 4 of the same competition, Kilcar thrashed Réalt na Mara 5-15 to 0-3, yet were still knocked out of the competition on points difference, while Glenswilly defeated St Michael’s 1-4 to 1-2.
There were also three Wexford SFC quarter-finals today, with Horeswood being comprehensively beaten 3-14 to 1-10 by Gusserane O’Rahilly’s, while at Wexford Park, Sarsfields lost out 0-8 to 2-8 against Shelmaliers. Finally, St Anne’s narrowly overcame St Fintan’s 1-12 to 0-9 in Grantstown.
