Liverpool target to join Chinese club for €50 million - reports

Jiangsu Suning have been making waves ahead of the Chinese transfer window’s closure on 26 February.

ALEX TEIXEIRA, THE Brazilian attacking midfielder who was heavily linked with Liverpool during the January transfer window, is reportedly joining Chinese side Jiangsu Suning for €50 million.

If the move is confirmed, it will be the third time in recent weeks that a deal for a player has broken the Chinese record transfer fee, with transfers involving Jackson Martinez (€42 million) and Ramires (€28 million) previously making history.

Leading French publication L’Equipe claims a deal has been done, with Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Luscescu quoted as saying:  “It’s true, we have sold to China.”

Jiangsu Suning have been making waves ahead of the Chinese transfer window’s closure on 26 February, narrowly missing out on AC Milan’s Luiz Adriano in addition to the purchase of Ramires.

Liverpool were understood to have been monitoring the player, but ultimately balked at Shakhtar’s excessive asking price.
