The Scot travelled to Boston with his assistant Steve Clarke as part of an ongoing review into the club’s performances this season.
While Clarke remained in the United States to accompany principal owner John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner to a Boston Red Sox match, Dalglish flew back to Heathrow amid fevered speculation that he had left the club for the second time.
However, according to The Times, Dalglish did not resign and was not sacked.
Instead, all parties agreed that the process of reviewing the season must continue.
Henry and Werner have asked Dalglish and Clarke to explain why Liverpool only managed to finish eighth in the Premier League table, while also outlining their vision for future improvement.
FSG know that sacking someone as popular as Dalglish might not go down well with the club’s supporters, but showed with the dismissal and Damien Comolli that they are not afraid to take decisive action in the face of poor results.
