Liverpool confirm capture of Luis Alberto

The Sevilla striker’s move is still subject to international clearance.

LIVERPOOL HAVE CONFIRMED the signing of Spanish forward Luis Alberto from Sevilla, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract after completing his medical at the club’s Melwood training base on Saturday.

The forward, who has represented Spain at youth level, has made just nine appearances for Sevilla’s first team in all competitions.

But a superb loan spell at Barcelona B, the Spanish club’s second side, brought him to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ attention.

In his time with the Catalan giants’ reserve side last season, Alberto scored 11 goals in 38 appearances, while he also provided 17 assists.

“We are all delighted that Luis has decided to join Liverpool,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.

“He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player.

“I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young exciting players at our club.”

Alberto is the third signing to arrive at Liverpool so far in the off-season, with the youngster to join compatriot Iago Aspas and Ivorian defender Kolo Toure as new arrivals at Anfield.
