Welcome to the third Premier League liveblog of the day, where Manchester United will be hoping to end two trends.
The first is that they’ve never won away to Swansea (in, admittedly, two league appearances). The second is that no opposition player has scored at the Liberty this season. Will United’s mundane recent form be enough to overcome the admirable dynamism of the Swans. Knowing Ferguson’s teams pre-Christmas, probably just enough.

5:17PM
The teams:
Swansea: Vorm, Rangel, Williams, Monk, Taylor, Sinclair, Routledge, Gower, Britton, Dyer, Graham
Manchester United: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Park, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney, Hernandez
19 Nov 2011
5:18PM
And the big team news: Ryan Giggs starts his first ever league game in Wales while Michael Carrick starts his first league game of the season has Wayne Rooney also returns to United’s forward line rather than sitting deeper in midfield. For Swansea, Joe Allen isn’t risked having picked up a calf injury.
19 Nov 2011
5:32PM
It’s off. Rooney dropping back immediately despite nominally playing as a forward.
19 Nov 2011
5:34PM
And Swansea have started well, snapping at the United box twice.
19 Nov 2011
5:37PM
This is only the second time this season Sir Alex has named the same back four in consecutive games.
19 Nov 2011

GOAL! Swansea 0-1 Manchester United
After a good start, Swansea gift United the lead. A poor pass is played into Giggs’s path.He drove through and squared for Hernandez who finished easily.
19 Nov 2011
5:46PM
No letting up from Swansea despite going behind, Sinclair and Dyer continuing to cut into United.
19 Nov 2011
5:47PM
Dangerously in-swinging corner is palmed away by De Gea and, even though it looked like that sent United on a lightning break, Swansea got back creditably quickly.
19 Nov 2011
5:53PM
Possession in the last five minutes: Swansea 25% – United 75%
19 Nov 2011
5:54PM
Oh Sinclair! Should have been 1-1!
A good passing move from Swansea ends with a shot deflecting towards Sinclar, just five yards out. But, with the goal gaping, he couldn’t get his feet right and the chance was gone. Massive miss!
19 Nov 2011
6:02PM
United enjoying a lot of space now and in complete control.
19 Nov 2011
6:09PM
Just after Giggs floats a free-kick over the bar, Swansea put United under a bit of pressure…
19 Nov 2011
6:09PM
Poor Sinclair can’t seem to do anything right today. Miscontrolling, getting in way of moves… not his day.
19 Nov 2011
6:14PM
It’s the sort of game where you can see why Swansea are so well regarded and are going to stay up, but also why United are such a winning machine.
19 Nov 2011
6:18PM
That should have been a supreme break and goal by United… Rooney takes an absolutely delicious touch to then release Hernandez but the Mexican pushes the ball too far wide and, even though he could initially have gone himself, the switch back to Rooney was atrociously hit. Wonderful from Rooney though.
19 Nov 2011
6:20PM
Half-time: Swansea City 0-1 Manchester United
Swansea show plenty of promise but United all the poise and penetration as Hernandez’s goal following a Rangel error separates the teams.
19 Nov 2011
6:38PM
Back underway at Liberty Stadium and again Hernandez should have done better with glorious Rooney technique. The Mexican once more failed to control Rooney’s sumptuous ball over the top in the box.
19 Nov 2011
6:39PM
Fabio on for Patrice Evra
19 Nov 2011
6:43PM
Must be said that, in his first start of the season, Carrick has improved United’s general shape and momentum in the absence of Cleverley.
19 Nov 2011
6:44PM
Vidic also shows his value there as Monk heads down a dangerous Swansea corner and – in typical Kevin Moran style – the Serbian puts his head where the boots are to clear.
19 Nov 2011
6:45PM
United have only had 34% possession in the 11 minutes since half-time. Reflects Swansea’s attitude as well as their general play.
19 Nov 2011
6:46PM
Rooney down injured on the turf at the moment after rising for a header and clattering into Vorm.
19 Nov 2011
6:46PM
Rooney up now and walking rather gingerly.
19 Nov 2011
6:50PM
Amazing the way the doubts about De Gea’s capacity for the physical have faded in recent weeks. Catches another cross there.
19 Nov 2011
7:01PM
Frantic defending from United with fine blocks from Park and Ferdinand… but only after Sinclar – in a much improved move – absolutely skinned Rooney to set up chance.
19 Nov 2011
7:04PM
Giggs taken off for Fletcher… to a lot of boos from his compatriots.
19 Nov 2011
7:14PM
United just playing clock down now. Seem to have sapped Swansea’s energy.
19 Nov 2011
7:16PM
United just won their corner after 86 minutes.
19 Nov 2011
7:17PM
Rooney should have had two or three himself today. Rushes a long shot there when space opened up and, from the rebound, tries to chip the keeper. He likes to do that when game is still poised: desperate for chips.
19 Nov 2011
7:18PM
Phil Jones smashes the post after a blistering break from United, Young feeding him on the right.
19 Nov 2011
7:21PM
United riding roughshod over Swansea now, who look knackered.
19 Nov 2011
7:22PM
Rooney tees up Nani who curls just wide.
19 Nov 2011
7:23PM
That’s it, full-time: Swansea City 0-1 Manchester United
Swansea very impressive for the majority of the game but ultimately United’s experience showed.
As it happened: Swansea v Manchester United
