So it’s all over! Holland may have been somewhat lucky for the third goal, but overall, they thoroughly deserved their victory.
They successfully stemmed the dwindling influence of Xavi and Iniesta, while the Spanish defence simply couldn’t cope with the pace and power of Van Persie and Robben on the break.
Great ball from Sneijder to Robben, who shows Ramos a clean pair of heels, before demonstrating great composure to round Casillas and smash the ball into the net.
This is turning into a rout!

76 mins: Another Holland substitution — De Vrij has been replaced by Veltman and Lens has come on for Van Persie, while for Spain, Fabregas replaces Silva.
Meanwhile, Torres has just seemingly dived in an attempt to win a penalty. The referee doesn’t buy it.

So at half-time, the Spanish will feel somewhat aggrieved.
They’ve become increasingly dominant in possession, and probably should have doubled their advantaged just before Van Persie equalised, as Silva’s dinked chip went narrowly wide.
However, the Dutch have successfully frustrated Spain at times and have exploited their defensive weaknesses on the counter-attack more than once.
Meanwhile, as I type, RTÉ’s Darragh Maloney suggests they may have to introduce the “black card” to stop Holland’s tactical fouling.
2 mins: Fairly low-key opening with a proper pattern yet to be established in the game.
In a rather retro move, Holland are wearing shirt numbers 1-11 — a rare sight nowadays.

I’m reliably informed by several people on Twitter, who are at the game, that David Costa received a frosty reception after his name was called out on the tannoy.
The striker has controversially opted to play for Spain despite being born in Brazil.

90 mins: Great run from Lens down the left, but Sneijder can’t quite connect properly with the cross.
Down the other end, Torres misses an open goal essentially, hesitating and allowing the defender to make a recovery challenge.
86 mins: Great double save from Casillas to prevent further embarrassment for Spain.
Lens and Robben both produced great efforts, which the Real Madrid stopper did well to keep out.
A look at those last two Holland goals.
GOAL! Holland 5-1 Spain (Robben 79)

GOAL! Spain 1 Holland 4 (Van Persie 71)
It’s a clanger from Casillas, as he miscontrols a routine pass-back.
Van Persie gathers up the loose ball and slots it home, leaving the Real Madrid goalkeeper decidedly red-faced.
The De Vrij that appears to have sealed Holland’s victory.
66 mins: Spain have the ball in the back of the net, but it’s ruled out for offside.
Pedro’s header is only parried away by Cillessen, and Silva pounces on the rebound, with the linesman correctly putting up his flag thereafter.
GOAL! Holland 3 Spain 1 (De Vrij 64)
A free-kick is floated in that De Vrij gets on the end of.
It’s another controversial incident though, as Van Persie appeared to impede Casillas and stop him from getting to the cross in the build-up.
60 mins: Break from the Dutch ends with Van Persie rocketing a shot off the crossbar.
Holland have been superb in this second half.
Meanwhile, Wijnaldum has just replaced De Guzman for the Dutch, while Pedro and Torres have come on in place of Alonso and Costa for Spain.
Here’s a look at that Robben goal…
And here’s the Diego Costa incident…
54 mins: Diego Costa is a lucky boy! He headbutts Martins Indi off the ball, who goes down and seemingly exaggerates his injury.
However, none of the officials manage to see the incident, so neither of the players are even booked.
GOAL! Holland 2 Spain 1 (Robben 52)
Robben controls Blind’s long ball beautifully, takes it past the defender and finishes consummately.
That wasn’t a million miles away from Bergkamp v Argentina in 1998.

What do you think? Was it the right decision?
Poll Results:
HALF-TIME: Spain 1-1 Holland
Here’s a look at that Van Persie goal.
GOAL! Spain 1 Holland 1 (Van Persie 43)
Van Persie breaks the Spanish offside trap and latches onto Blind’s long ball, heading over Casillas and into the net.
Sergio Ramos will be disappointed he let him run through unopposed there.
42 mins: Lovely through ball from Iniesta and David Silva tries and fails to dink it over the keeper, who makes a good save.
Whoops!

36 mins: De Guzman makes another bad challenge on Alonso, and he is lucky to escape a second yellow in the process.
The Dutch certainly haven’t been afraid to get stuck in á la the World Cup final four years ago.
30 mins: De Guzman gets past Alonso and reaches the by-line, but his subsequent cross is disappointing.
31 mins: Seconds later, Blind’s powerful cross into the box narrowly eludes the onrushing Van Persie.
Holland have responded well since conceding the goal.
It’s not often penalties are unstoppable, but…
GOAL! Spain 1 Holland 0 (Alonso, 26)
Costa goes through on goal and he beats De Vrij, before the defender clips his trailing leg.
Xabi Alonso then powers home the resulting penalty.
25 MINS: PENALTY FOR SPAIN!
Joe Giddens Joe Giddens
The Dutch fans are wearing some very elaborate attire this evening.
16 mins: Indi concedes the ball cheaply for Holland, and the Spanish counter-attack, but Costa’s shot is well off target.*
19 mins: Great ball to pick out David Silva by Xavi, but the defender makes a great block to stop the Man City man from getting a shot on target.
*Cue inevitable questions about his fitness.
14 mins: De Jong is lucky to escape a yellow card, as he makes a nasty challenge on the Spanish player.
It’s not quite as bad as the incident four years ago, but the Spanish, and in particular Xabi Alonso, haven’t forgotten about it.
12 mins: Costa has Spain’s best chance so far, but he takes a heavy touch, and Vlaar makes a good interception.
Still quite a cagey game, with the midfield very congested at the moment.
9 mins: Anders Iniesta flies a shot just over the bar.
Spain have had the better possession, but haven’t created a clear-cut chance yet.
7 mins: Big chance for Holland! Robben plays an excellent through ball to Sneidjer.
Unfortunately for the Dutch, the Galatasaray star’s shot is straight at Casillas.
He’s not wrong!
2 mins: Fairly low-key opening with a proper pattern yet to be established in the game.
In a rather retro move, Holland are wearing shirt numbers 1-11 — a rare sight nowadays.
