What a start the Scottish striker has had since his move from Wolves. Fletcher takes a touch from Seb Larsson’s cross and tucks a strike into the bottom corner. That’s four goals in three games for his new club.

Ooof! Stoke come close to taking the lead after two of their Irish internationals link up. Whelan swings in a free-kick and Walters’ central run sees him make good contact and head onto the crossbar with Petr Cech beaten.

Chelsea reply with an attack which ends in Bransilav Ivanovic taking a tumble in the Stoke box. He’s taken a dive though, and Michael Oliver waves play on.

Next, Mata finds Torres with a delicate chipped pass. El Nino’s first touch is a good one but he then swipes at the ball and allows Asmir Begovic to smother.

Over at the DW Stadium, Dimitar Berbatov is having a stormer and while Fulham are in control, they have yet to convert their dominance into goals.

GOAL! Wigan 0-1 Fulham (Hugo Rodallega)

Berbatov puts it on a plate for his strike partner who scores a header against his former side to give the Cottagers a 1-0 lead.

Oscar has just made a show of former ex-Chelsea defender Robert Huth with a sublime piece of skill. The Brazilian playmaker, who scored twice against Juventus during the week, nutmegs the German with a backheeled flick before being pulled back.

GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa (Darren Bent)

The visitors are ahead at St Mary’s. Stephen Ireland attempts a volley from 18 yards but gets it wrong. Darren Bent is quickest to react, however, to redirect it past Paulo Gazzaniga in the Southampton goal.

Oscar drives into the box and, with Ryan Shawcross stretching out his leg, the Chelsea player goes to ground. Never a penalty and the Brazilian earns himself a yellow card. Possibly a little harsh considering Ivanovic didn’t get one in the first half. Where’s the consistency?

The same player has a shot saved by Begovic moments later.

Belgian striker Christian Benteke opened his Aston Villa account last week and has come close early in the second half against Southampton. Still 1-0 to the visitors there.

Alex McCarthy keeps West Brom at bay with a terrific stop from James Morrisons’ volley at the Hawthorns.

With six minutes to play, the European champions have finally broken the deadlock. In a well-worked move by the Pensioners, the ball is passed across Stoke’s box where Ivanovic crosses low. Mata adds on with a deft flick and Ashley Cole has continued his run and slots home.

You’ve got to feel a little for the Potters.

John Terry is on for Juan Mata as Roberto Di Matteo shuts up shop for the closing minutes. Expect plenty of long balls being lumped into the box by Stoke.

So Chelsea remain top of the table after a dramatic winner from an unlikely source. Southampton come from behind to register their first points since returning to the top flight and are now out of the relegation places.

Romelu Lukuka’s strike earns highly-flying West Brom a win as Steve Clarke maintains his great start at the Hawthorns, while Fulham hold on to move up to fourth and the Hammers rescue a late point against Sunderland.
