  • Tottenham 1-1 West Brom
  • Chelsea v Newcastle, 5.30pm

Good afternoon! It’s Premier League Saturday and already there are a number of breaking news stories to bring you.

First thing’s first, we’ve been robbed of one fixture as Sunderland v Reading has been called off due to, wait for it… waterlogging. In August. Crazy stuff.

Anyway, what that means is that six matches are due to start in just over a half hours’ time. In the early game at the Liberty Stadium, life under Michael Laudrup is good. After their 5-0 rout of QPR last weekend, the Swans lead West Ham 3-0 10 minutes to play.

Join Steve for the rest of that here.

At Old Trafford, the big story is Alex Ferguson’s decision to leave talisman Wayne Rooney out of the starting line-up for the visit of Fulham. New signing Robin van Persie starts in his place.

Manchester United: De Gea, Da Silva, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Cleverley, Anderson, Valencia, Kagawa, Young, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Rooney, Giggs, Hernandez, Welbeck, Scholes.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Briggs, Duff, Diarra, Dembele, Kacaniklic, Ruiz, Petric. Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Baird, Sidwell, Kasami, Rodallega, Halliche.

Norwich: Ruddy, Russell Martin, Bassong, Barnett, Garrido, Snodgrass, Howson, Johnson, Pilkington, Jackson, Holt. Subs: Rudd, Surman, Hoolahan, Morison, Tierney, Ryan Bennett, Chris Martin.

QPR: Green, Traore, Hill, Ferdinand, Da Silva, Mackie, Diakite, Park, Hoilett, Cisse, Zamora. Subs: Murphy, Derry, Johnson, Taarabt, Wright-Phillips, Onuoha, Bosingwa.

Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Sandro, Lennon, Van der Vaart, Bale, Defoe. Subs: Cudicini, Naughton, Jenas, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, Townsend, Caulker.

West Brom: Foster, Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Mulumbu, Yacob, Dorrans, Morrison, Fortune, Long. Subs: Myhill, Rosenberg, Brunt, Lukaku, Gera, Dawson, Jones.

Nobody enjoys turning up for a game only to be told it’s off…

Aston Villa: Given, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Clark, N’Zogbia, Herd, El Ahmadi, Bannan, Delfouneso, Bent. Subs: Guzan, Ireland, Holman, Delph, Weimann, Lichaj, Burke.

Everton: Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Osman, Pienaar, Gibson, Naismith, Jelavic, Fellaini. Subs: Mucha, Heitinga, Mirallas, Gueye, Barkley, Coleman, Anichebe.

Full-time: Swansea 3-0 West Ham

Goals from Angel Rangel, Michu and Danny Graham hand the Welsh outfit a second straight win to put them at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Chelsea on goal difference for a couple of hours at least.

Southampton: K Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, S Davis, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Do Prado, Rodriguez, Lambert. Subs: Gazzaniga, Sharp, Ward-Prowse, Richardson, Shaw, Seaborne, Puncheon.

Wigan: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Kone, Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Figueroa, Ramis, Di Santo, Maloney. Subs: Pollitt, Jones, Crusat, Watson, Gomez, Boselli, Beausejour.

Puddles galore at the Stadium of Light.

GOAL! Manchester United 0-1 Fulham (Damien Duff)

Old Trafford is stunned. Fulham begin strongly and win a free-kick on the left side of the box. In a well-worked set-piece, Bryan Ruiz cuts back to Damien Duff, who loses Ashley Young and fires home first time.

GOAL! Aston Villa 0-1 Everton (Steven Pienaar)

The visitors are ahead at Villa Park and it’s South African midfielder Steven Pienaar with a spectacular finish.

GOAL! Manchester United 1-1 Fulham (Robin van Persie)

Unbelievable, Jeff. On his first start for the club and with his very first shot, the Dutchman opens his Manchester United account after 10 minutes. And the execution to direct his strike past Mark Schwarzer with his left foot is top class.

GOAL! Norwich 1-0 Queens Park Rangers (Simeon Jackson)

Superb move by the Canaries sees the ball player out to Anthony Pilkington, who crosses for Canadian Jackson to bundle over the line.

PENALTY TO QPR

GOAL! Norwich 1-1 QPR (Bobby Zamora)

Djibril Cisse’s effort it tipped onto the post but striker partner Zamora follows up to score the rebound.

BREAKING NEWS: Richard Dunne has told Giovanni Trapattoni that he will be available to play for Ireland in their World Cup 2014 campaign once he recovers from injury. The experienced defender met with the Italian and his assistant Marco Tardelli ahead of the Premier League game against Everton and revealed his intention to continue his international career.

Full story to follow shortly.

GOAL! Aston Villa 0-2 Everton (Marouane Fellaini)

Two goals in a week for the Belgian. His header beats Shay Given, who should really have done better.

GOAL! Manchester United 2-1 Fulham (Shinji Kagawa)

Not content with seeing his fellow new signing get off the mark, Japanese attacker Shinji Kagawa has scored his very first Premier League goal. A corner falls to Tom Cleverley at the edge of the box. Schwarzer blocks his strike but Kagawa follows up with a simply tap-in.

United have turned this one around since conceding early and very nearly make it 3-1. Rafael Da Silva begins an attack down the right and unselfishly plays in Kagawa. The ball is cut back from the left and Da Silva redirects it over the line but is in an offside position.

GOAL! Manchester United 3-1 Fulham (Rafael Da Silva)

The Brazilian full-back keeps himself onside this time to head home Ashley Young’s cross and it’s no more than United deserve.

Down the other end, Fulham are scratching their heads and can’t believe they haven’t pulled one back. Alex Kacaniklic goes by Da Silva far too easily and cross to Mladen Petric. His acrobatic volley is blocked by the hand of David De Gea, then Duff smashed the crossbar.

GOAL! Aston Villa 0-3 Everton (Nikica Jelavic)

Leighton Baines tees up Jelavic, who can’t miss from eight yards out. Stern words needed from Paul Lambert at half-time.

GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Wigan (Franco Di Santo)

The Latics go in front at St Mary’s and it’s their Argentinian striker Franco Di Santo who smashed the ball beyond Kelvin Davis after Shaun Maloney’s assist.

RED CARD – Irish defender Ciaran Clark brings down Jelavic and, as the last defender, receives a straight red. And with Giovanni Trapattoni watching too.

GOAL! Manchester United 3-2 Fulham (Nemanja Vidic OG)

A mix-up between David De Gea and Nemanja Vidic has thrown the Cottagers a lifeline. The pair get in each other’s way while trying to clear a cross from the left and the ball comes off the Serbian defender and crosses the line.

Alex Ferguson rings in the changes – Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck are on for Ashley Young and Shinji Kagawa.

Fulham, meanwhile, have grown in confidence in the last few minutes and De Gea has had to make two excellent saves to keep them at bay.

GOAL! Aston Villa 1-3 Everton (Karim El Ahmadi)

Morroccon international Karim El Ahmadi, a summer signing from Feyenoord, grabs his first goal for the club with a 25-yard rocket which leaves Tim Howard with no chances.

Tottenham 1-0 West Brom (Benoit Assou Ekotto)

Spurs defender Benoit Assou Ekotto catches a strike on the half volley which takes a deflection on the way past Ben Foster.

Everton’s new striker Kevin Mirallas, on the field a matter of minute after replacing Darron Gibson, has the ball in the back of the net but is robbed of a debut day goal by the offside flag.

GOAL! Southampton 0-2 Wigan (Arouna Kone)

Ivorian front man Arouna Kone robs Jose Fonte of possession and advances forward before beating Davis in the Soton goal.

GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 West Brom (James Morrison)

There’s a bit of a scramble in the Spurs box but Morrison finds a way through the crowd of bodies when the ball comes out to him at the edge of the box. It looks like he has rescued a point for the Baggies injury time.

Wayne Rooney has just sustained a huge gash on his thigh at Old Trafford. It looks a bad one and he will no doubt need stitches.
