As it happened: Manchester City v QPR, Premier League

We were live for the late Premier League clash at Eastlands, as Carlos Tevez, Yaya Toure and co took on QPR…

The last time these two sides met, there was a little bit of a kerfuffle when Sergio Aguero grabbed a winner in the last second.

We’re liveblogging all the action from the Etihad Stadium. As always, we’d love you to get in contact, so send us your thoughts by emailing tony@thescore.ie, via Twitter@thescore_iefind us on Facebook, or leave a comment below.

Full-Time: Manchester City 3-1 QPR

This evening’s teams…

Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov, Silva, Toure, Rodwell, Nasri, Tevez, Dzeko

Subs: Pantilimon, Milner, Sinclair, Clichy, Toure, Balotelli, Razak

QPR: Green, Bosingwa, Ferdinand, Nelsen, Da Silva, Wright-Phillips, Granero, Park, Faurlin, Zamora, Johnson

Subs: Murphy, Derry, Cisse, Mackie, Onuoha, Dyer, Hoilett

Referee: Chris Foy (Merseyside)

Mario Balotelli is included among the substitutes a day before he is due to go into hospital for eye surgery. New signing Scott Sinclair is also on the bench, but there’s no sign of Javi Garcia.

QPR hand a debut to Esteban Granero, arguably the best signing of any team in the Premier League.

We have kick-off.

The first real chance of the game as Dzeko attacks a fine corner from Samir Nasri, but the big Bosnian heads the ball wide.

Silva works a short corner before crossing for Yaya Toure, but the Ivorian’s header is straight into the hands of Robert Green. Easy save for the condemned man.

Great vision from Tevez to spot Kolarov, but Shaun Wright-Phillips comes in with a scything tackle. Impressive from the former England winger.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho – on Champions League scouting duty – looks on from the stands.

Best chance of the game as Dzeko’s header is saved off the line. The ball falls to Yaya Toure but, by the time he can get his shot away, QPR manage to block. Great start from the champions.

Jack Rodwell almost scored the greatest own goal in the history of the game, from the halfway line, but Joe Hart managed to tip the ball over.

We have a goal! It’s 1-0 to Manchester City and the goal has come from Yaya Toure.

The ball comes over from another City corner and reaches Tevez. His acrobatic shot is blocked but it falls to the City midfield dynamo, who hammers the ball past Green. City have been dominant, a one-sided game.

Interesting piece here from Andy Cole on a player who has turned out for both City and QPR. You probably know who we mean.

Away from the football for a moment – Darragh McDonald has just won gold for Ireland in the Men’s 400m Freestyle at the Paralympic Games in London.

Back on the pitch, Toure is doing his best to drive City on to a second goal.

Nasri, meanwhile, gets free and almost scores but Green manages to pull off an excellent reaction save.

“Things have changed in these parts – for a long time, a foreigner was someone from Didsbury.”

Jon Champion really does talk nonsense sometimes.

A stunning ball from Kolarov releases Silva, but Fabio does brilliantly to get across and block with his left foot. That came after some pressure from QPR, though Joe Hart still hasn’t been seriously tested.

Silva to Toure to Tevez to high over the QPR crossbar.

Expect more about this in the next couple of days…

Granero does his best to put QPR on the front foot, but none of his team-mates are on the Spaniard’s wavelength.

Granero and Bosingwa exchange passes before the midfielder’s shot flies over Joe Hart’s bar.

That’s half-time - Yaya Toure’s goal separates the sides but Manchester City have completed dominated. QPR’s best chance came when Jack Rodwell almost scored an own goal from the half-way line.

The teams are back on the pitch, and City go straight on the attack as Dzeko slots in Tevez. The Argentine striker produces a fine shot but Green is in the right place.

Anton Ferdinand is down after a strong tackle from behind by Kolarov. He looks very dazed after that, but at least he’s sitting up and the stretcher isn’t needed.

Brilliant interplay from Silva and Zabaleta. The Spaniard advances down the right and slips in the full-back, whose deft shot over Green comes off the QPR crossbar. That was the best moment of the half so far.

If I were a Manchester City fan, my favourite player would probably be Pablo Zabaleta. Industrious, unfussy, tough as nails. Nice player.

But I’m not, so he isn’t.

Dzeko gets the ball in the space and blasts wide, but he was offside anyway. Story of his match/Man City career.

Bobby Zamora heads over the City bar. There’s really nothing more to be said than that.

It’s 1-1!

Andy Johnson muscles the ball away from the City midfield, advances and blasts a shot at Joe Hart. The England goalkeeper could only parry the ball after a deflection, and Bobby Zamora was on hand to head in.

Edin Dzeko scores and Manchester City re-take the lead. QPR were level for less than two minutes.

A ball from the left finds Tevez, whose first touch takes him free of the Hoops’ defence. Tevez gets to the byline and fires a cross that Dzeko can’t miss from.

Ferdinand is forced off the pitch to be replaced by Nedum Onuoha, six years a City player.

Contrary to earlier reports, by the way, Balotelli will not miss any football.

Kieron Dyer is about to come on. And then go off.

Dyer replaces Alejandro Faurlin.

Nasri to Silva to Tevez, who just fails to find the Spaniard with his cross. How are City just a goal ahead? They have completed dominated this game.

Jack Rodwell is booked for tackle from behind on Granero as Zabaleta goes off, and Kolo Toure comes on.

Onuoha goes to the far post from a corner and finds Ryan Nelsen, whose acrobatic effort doesn’t trouble Hart. City were poor at the back there.

Nelsen almost gets in again after losing Lescott from a Granero free-kick. City look jaded.

Another City substitution as David Silva comes off to be replaced by James Milner.

Djibril Cisse replaces Granero for the visitors, while Abdul Razak is about to come on for City. Roughly five minutes left, and the game is scrappy.

Razak, a 19-year-old Ivorian, replaces Nasri.

His first touch finds Dzeko, who turns on the world’s biggest sixpence before drawing a foul. City free-kick, which comes to nothing.

Yaya Toure has been named man of the match.

Carlos Tevez gets his 50th league goal in English football, as he turns a scuffed Edin Dzeko shot past Robert Green. The 28-year-old didn’t know much about it, but didn’t have to. Probably fair on the balance of play, but QPR will lament conceding so soon after Zamora’s equaliser.

Milner gets free and crosses, but Bosingwa clears.

We have full-time. No real drama to this match as City record a routine enough victory. Neither side was particularly good at the back, but City had the best players in the game in the shape of Yaya Toure and Tevez.

Thanks for keeping up…
