Declan Hannon took aim from a 2o metre free and puts his side into the lead after 12 minutes.

Carlow won’t be overwhelmed. They’re still on top at the Gaelic grounds thanks to two more quick-fire Shane Kavanagh scores – the second one, apparently from all of 70 metres.

16 mins: Limerick 1-01 Carlow 0 -05

Another Kavanagh free and an Edward Coady score put Carlow back in a three-point lead, but Hannon is on form today, another howitzer of a goal.

The momentum is with the hosts alright, after drawing level their fourth score of the day is a third…

In three added minutes to the first half the two stars of the first half trade frees. Kavanagh and Hannon.
