LIMERICK IT SET up a Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final meeting with local rivals UL next week after they won today’s Group C clash with GMIT.
Davy Fitzgerald’s side won out by 1-14 to 2-5 at their home grounds in Limerick IT to ensure they finished second in the group. They will now travel across Limerick to face UL next week.

LIT enjoyed a slender 0-5 to 1-1 advantage at the break with Galway’s Shane Moloney bagging the goal for GMIT. Tony Kelly, who hit 1-8 overall, fired to the net from a second-half penalty to enable LIT to kick on.
GMIT grabbed a second goal through Padraig Flanagan but they ultimately exited the competition as LIT advanced in second place in the group behind Cork IT.
Meanwhile Dublin IT finished top of Group D with a 0-10 to 0-7 victory against DCU at St Clare’s in Dublin this afternoon.
DIT ended up top of the group after a second successive win and are now at home to WIT at the quarter-final stage next week. DCU bow out of the competition at the group stages.
Finally UCD clinched the second place on offer in Group B with a 2-16 to 1-8 success over last year’s finalists Mary Immaculate College in Belfield. They now travel to take on reigning champions UCC next week.
