Aussie paper unveils Lions Slab-O-Meter ahead of Waratahs match

The Sydney Morning Herald is squeezing the life out of their earlier claim Warren Gatland had selected 37 ‘slabs of red meat’.

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD grabbed headlines in a host of rival newspapers and publications across the globe when one wily writer described Warren Gatland’s Lions squad a ‘slabs of red meat’.

Published in jest, with a large sprinkling of the truth, the headline has followed the Lions from London to Carton House, Hong Kong and all over Australia and its billion (exaggeration) time zones.

As part of its preview for today’s warm-up match between the Lions and Waratahs, SMH published a graphic with its new ‘Slab-O-Meter’. The tourists rank highly at present with our very own Paulie O’Connell swivelling about in a frying pan at the ’8 out of 10′ mark:
