The Brentford star in the process hit the fastest goal of the season in the league, opening the scoring after just 33 seconds against Blackburn, as he slotted home from Lasse Vibe’s through ball.
Danny Graham scored twice in five minutes to put Rovers ahead, before Hogan registered his second to equalise with another clinical finish from six yards.
Hogan ended up on the losing side, however, as a Harlee Dean own goal on 38 minutes was ultimately enough for the hosts to secure all three points.
Speaking on the matter during the week, Ireland boss Martin O’Neill said: “We’ve certainly got the opportunity (to chat) now, coming up to Christmas and slightly after, the agent did say he’d want to have a conversation, so I’ll hopefully have that and we’ll go from there.”
