LIMERICK FC EARNED their fifth win in six games to creep ever closer to the sides above them – while condemning Pat’s to their fourth league defeat in a row.
Limerick have been free-scoring of late and it didn’t take them long to break the deadlock in front of a huge home crowd at the Markets Field.

Dean Clarke looked dangerous on the left and he cut in before being fouled. Ian Turner and Shane Tracy stood over the ball but the former unleashed a venomous strike right into the top corner – out of the reach of Pat’s keeper Conor O’Malley.
The turning point looked to have come just before the half hour mark when Shaun Kelly saw red for an off-the-ball incident with Morgan Langley, but the Saints couldn’t capitalise on their good spell and Vinny Faherty stole possession inside the Pat’s box a minute before the half and rolled the ball under O’Malley.
Limerick didn’t waste time in extending their lead after the break. Just four minutes had elapsed and Dean Clarke continued to impress. His blistering pace aided him in crossing to the back post where Ian Turner was unmarked and he made no mistake – doubling his tally.
James Chambers pulled one back with just ten minutes to go – firing a superb free kick into the roof of the net from twenty yards.
LIMERICK: Freddy Hall; Shaun Kelly, Tony Whitehead, Patrick Kanyuka, Shane Tracy; Shane Duggan; Ian Turner, Paul O’Conor, Lee-J Lynch (Sean Russell, 46), Dean Clarke; Vinny Faherty (Darragh Rainsford, 85).
ST PAT’S: Conor O’Malley; Ger O’Brien, Sean Hoare, Kenny Browne, Ian Bermingham; Greg Bolger, James Chambers; Conan Byrne (Darragh Markey, 72), Morgan Langley, Aaron Greene (Jack Bayly, 78); Jamie McGrath.
