Limerick to announce Stuart Taylor appointment tomorrow

The Scot will lead First Division champions Limerick in their first season back in the top flight.

LIMERICK FC ARE are set to officially announce Stuart Taylor as the club’s new manager tomorrow, ending the search for Pat Scully’s successor.

Since parting ways with Scully in the middle of November the First Division champions have been linked with a host of big-name replacements, including former Hull City boss Phil Brown, before settling on Taylor.

The 38-year-old Scot comes to the job with some League of Ireland experience having spent a season with Drogheda United during his playing days.

Meanwhile UCD confirmed that they have re-signed four more members of last year’s squad as they continue preparations for the 2013 campaign.

Hughie Douglas, Sean Russell, James Kavanagh and Dean Clarke — all of whom came up through from the Students’ U19 squad to break into the first team last season — have all penned new deals at Belfield.

“It’s time for some of the younger players to step up really and achieve what they came to UCD AFC to do,” Clarke told the official website.

“I think we will find it tough for the first couple of weeks but since I’ve here that always seems to be the case. By the end of the season I think we will be finishing strong once we get a bit of confidence.”

Cork manager Tommy Dunne has confirmed that Davin O’Neill will not re-sign next season, citing work commitments as part of the forward’s decision.

“I spoke to Davin and he won’t be signing back with us next season. He was unlucky last season in that he had quite a few injuries, but his work is also a difficulty.

“I don’t know whether people realise this or not, but he has a very physically demanding job and that has hampered him in terms of training and recovery.”
