A statement on the Limerick GAA website this evening revealed the good news that the player is expected to make a full recovery.
“Yesterday’s Limerick junior camogie final between Newcastle West and Tournafulla was abandoned after a Newcastle West player collapsed early in the second half.
“Luckily a defibrillator was on hand at the pitch in Coolyroe (the home of Feonagh-Castlemahon GAA club) and the player was attended to by a doctor and two nurses who were at the match before being airlifted to the University Hospital Limerick.
“We understand that the player is expected to make a full recovery.
“Limerick camogie would like to wish the player a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with her and her family, friends and teammates.
“We would also like to acknowledge those who helped on the scene including members of the Tournafulla team who made an important impact in the first critical minutes.
