A VERY LATE Eoin Wearen strike stole all three points at Thomond Park as Bohemians defeated Limerick by two goals to one.
The Blues wasted no time in settling the nerves – Stephen Folan struck in the ninth minute to hand Limerick the advantage. A long throw from Rory Gaffney on the right caused trouble – and it was Folan to capitalise on the loose ball to tap home from close range.
Bohs could and should have been level moments later. Steven Beattie got in behind Patrick Nzuzi and delivered a perfect cross for Eoin Wearen. The former Limerick trialist couldn’t provide the killer touch though.
Eoin Wearen turned provider soon after. His perfectly weighted through ball found the run of Kevin Devaney. Robbie Williams was the last covering defender for Limerick and he was adjudged to have fouled Devaney. The award looked dubious, but Corcoran stepped up nonetheless. He struck low to Cusack’s right, but the Limerick stopper outwitted him – pushing onto the post before Samuel Oji cleared into touch.

Owen Heary’s men were coming more into the game as the half progressed. A cleverly taken corner left Bohs two against one before the cross came in. It was Roberto Lopes who met the driven cross at the edge of the six yard box but the ball rebounded back off Shane Cusack, and to safety.
The visitors were left up in arms after Tomas Connolly failed to award a second penalty after Samuel Oji handled in the box – perhaps the uncertain nature of the first penalty award played on his mind.
Paddy Kavanagh was the hero for the away side on the hour mark as Bohs levelled. A poor clearance from Shane Cusack landed straight at the feet of Steven Beattie. He had the vision to play in Kavanagh and the winger made no mistake in punishing Cusack for his error.
Limerick struggled to create any chances of note – and Bohs punished them in the dying moments. Craig Walsh found space down the right and squared for the unmarked Eoin Wearen to smash home and secure a valuable win for the Gypsies.
