The All-Ireland Hurling Championship has a new sponsor to replace Guinness

Liberty Insurance has announced a new five-year deal with the GAA and the Camogie Association to sponsor both codes.

LIBERTY INSURANCE WILL sponsor the All-Ireland Hurling Championship and the Camogie Championships in a bumper new partnership with the GAA.

No figure was confirmed for the five-year deal which was announced this morning and marks the first time that the championships in both codes have been supported by the same company.

Liberty have been involved in the Irish insurance market for 18 months but are already established as a major player in sports sponsorship through deals with both the US Olympic team and with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Under the terms of the new partnership the American company will sponsor the Senior Hurling Championship, replacing Guinness who ended their 18-year affiliation with the competition and instead became a partner of the GAA and Croke Park.

Liberty will also sponsor the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Camogie Championships and will be involved in programmes to develop the sport.

Today’s announcement also includes provision for coaching schemes and for responsible driving initiatives.
