WEXFORD BOSS LIAM Dunne has called on the GAA to choose Croke Park as the venue for his side’s Leinster hurling championship replay with Dublin.
The sides drew 1-17 apiece tonight in their quarter-final tie in Wexford Park.
Parnell Park is the likely venue for the replay clash but the Wexford manager , speaking to RTE Television after the game, insists he will be ‘very disappointed’ if that’s the case.
“I’d be very disappointed if they bring us to Parnell Park next week. I think the main pitch up in Dublin is Croke Park.
“I think these two teams deserved to be playing in Croke Park and not sidetracked to be put in Parnell Park next Saturday evening.
“I hope the hierarchy and the men with suits on them in Croke Park will look kindly on us. We haven’t been in Croke Park since 2007.”
Dunne believes tonight’s performance will give his side greater confidence that they can compete.
“We believed we could push on and win it. Nobody else did but we did within the camp. The fact that they can compete with the top teams gives them confidence.
“That’s what I want Croke Park to give us the opportunity to be able to do. They’re pumping millions into hurling and coaching in Dublin and the likes of Wexford, Offaly and Laois are crying out for some of that funding. That’s what we need.”
Good luck Anthony. Class underage rugby player ! Fearless.
