Liam Brady to step down as head of Arsenal youth academy next year

The Irish football legend will step down from his role with the Gunners in May 2014.

LIAM BRADY WILL step down from his role as head of Arsenal’s youth academy in May 2014, the club have announced today.

The former Ireland international has been part for the Gunner’s set-up for the past 17 years.

“He has now given early notification of his desire to leave his role in order to help recruit a successor and ensure an orderly hand-over period,” a statement reads.

Emirates Stadium chiefs seem keen to keep the Dubliner at the club however and will be discussing new roles with Brady in the coming months they say.

“Liam has a deep understanding of what it takes to discover and develop a talented youngster into someone who can perform at the highest level,” Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said of the RTÉ pundit.

“He has made a massive contribution to Arsenal Football Club. It will be difficult to find a worthy successor but we will be looking for someone who can build on what Liam and his team have created.”
