Lewandowski still expecting to depart Dortmund

Will the Polish striker end up in the Premier League?

MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER target Robert Lewandowski is expecting to leave Borussia Dortmund during the off-season.

The Polish forward, who scored 36 goals in 49 matches in all competitions for Dortmund last season, was expected to follow former team-mate Mario Goetze and join Bayern Munich.

But with Lewandowski still contracted for another year, Dortmund have decided they will not sell another star to their title rivals. That puts the reigning Premier League champions in the box seat to sign Lewandowski, who is reportedly available for a fee of £25 million.

Lewandowski does not believe he will be at Dortmund next season and insisted that his proposed move to Bayern was not dead in the water.

“I do not think that this is the final decision and I expect the situation to change,” the 24-year-old was quoted as saying in The Sun. “I am enjoying my holiday for now but I hope things move forward pretty soon and the situation changes. I do not get upset about anything.”
