Leslie Nielsen a sports fan? Shirley you can't be serious

Comedy giant Leslie Nielsen passed away last night. The world of sport mourns him too.

THE MUCH-LOVED comedy actor Leslie Nielsen died last night prompting fans around the world to remember fondly a long career.

Nielsen, of course, made his name as a square-jawed dramatic actor in disaster movies. But he will be remembered for the sudden turn into comedy his work took with beloved spoofs like “Airplane!” and “The Naked Gun,”

Nielsen’s deadpan response to the question “Surely, you can’t be serious?” with “I am serious — and don’t call me Shirley” helped launch a second career.

He was also a sports fan however and appeared in this superb promo for a Monday Night Football programme.

He also like a bit of baseball:

And was a surprise guest of professional wrestling for a short time in the 90s. It’s not strictly sport – but it is funny.
