Racing to go ahead at Leopardstown despite overnight rain

Some 14 millimetres of rain put the high-quality card in doubt this morning.

TODAY’S PLANNED RACING at Leopardstown will go ahead despite the stormy overnight conditions, course officials say.

The going is soft with more rain expected throughout the day.

“Today’s meeting will proceed as planned,” a statement reads. “Certain public areas will be restricted until the winds ease. The situation will be monitored throughout the morning.”

Today’s card features two Grade 1 races, the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at 1.20pm and the Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle.

Scotland always had an excellent backline but ever had a solid 10 and their pack was always relatively lightweight. This has changed with the likes of Nel , Denton , Russell and the Gray brothers.
