THOMAS LEMAR REAFFIRMED his commitment to French champions Monaco after a move to Arsenal failed to materialise.
Premier League outfit Arsenal reportedly made a bid upwards of £90 million for Lemar but the transfer was called off on Thursday’s deadline day.
Amid the transfer chaos, Lemar – also a target for Liverpool according to reports – scored a stunning goal in France’s 4-0 rout of 10-man Netherlands in World Cup qualifying.
And the 21-year-old is glad to be returning to Stade Louis II after the international break.
“I am a player of Monaco, I am very happy there,” Lemar told Canal+.
“Now I’m going to make a good season with my club, to try to progress and move forward in my career with Monaco.
“I prepared for this game as usual. I do not lose my head, even if there are rumours. I was focused on my game, that’s all that mattered to me.”
Lemar and Monaco – who lost Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko during the transfer window – have made a flawless start to their title defence in Ligue 1, winning four successive matches to open the season.
In real news, is everyone looking forward to Electric Picnic ?
@Brian Murray: on the daily edge probably
@Brian Murray: Troll. And I think you’ll find more people are looking forward to the hurling this Sunday then Electric Picnic
@Brian Murray: Watched Lemar closely last night playing for France. He’s a terrific player. Wouldn’t look out of place at any big club.
As a Liverpool fan, happy enough with the transfer window although disappointing not to get van diyk. At least Liverpool are challenging for the top players and willing to spend huge sums of money which is what is needed to do if u want to stay in the top 4. Ideally a top 3 finish this season and automatic entry to champ league next season, then hopefully another good transfer window next summer. Plenty of goals will be scored and conceded this season no doubt.
@Paul Mallon: Paul what top players did Liverpool challenge for remind me again
@Paul Mallon: not sure I agree with that. The only players Liverpool are in for are ones that don’t interest the top clubs.
@Ragman: they bought salah and keita. Challenged for VVD and lemar. But u already knew that, if u wanna troll or get into a silly arguement about which club is bigger I’m sure u won’t have to wait long.
@Leo Erah: at the end of the day clubs like Man City, united, Barcelona, real and Bayern had no interest in Salah or Keira. What bigger club did they turn down realistically?
@Leo Erah: well Chelsea were after VVD and chamberlain apparently. I’m not saying Liverpool are back at the top table for transfers but I think overall it was a positive enough window and hopefully they can go up another level in terms of transfer next summer
@Paul Mallon: why couldnt they “go up another level” this summer?
@robbie: Hahahah Matics ilk. So good Chelsea let him go twice and only last season ye described him as a Chelsea reject. For the record I think matic is quality but he’s a short term fix ye overpayed drastically for considering his age and the fact Matuidi, a better footballer and only a year older went for 20 mil less. Also typical manc not actually watching or understanding football, why would Liverpool buy a cdm? We have Henderson, can and even Gini can fill that role not to mention we just bought the 2nd best player in Germany for next year. We needed a CB we didn’t get one could come back to haunt us might not.
@Paul Mallon: get a grip they didn’t challenge for V.VD they tapped him up and where reported end of story! , as usual they did a have ass job with Lemar Iike they did with Salah two years ago and it cost them an extra 29m this time round to get him. Maybe they’ll try again in January or the summer for lemar 150m will probably do it this time but that’s the Liverpool way. But if he’s as good as he’s been made out to be he won’t be at Liverpool next year , as the big club with the money will swoop.
@Leo Erah: United Big Club ????
