THE LEITRIM COUNTY board have confirmed that four members of their senior football panel have been dropped for breaches of discipline ahead of their Connacht semi-final against London on June 23rd.
Leitrim were triumphant against New York in their first round tie in Gaelic Park in early May to set up a meeting with London, victors over Sligo last Sunday, in Carrick-on-Shannon.
It has been reported by The Leitrim Observer that Wayne McKeon, Shane Moran and brothers Tomas and Conor Beirne are the quartet in question axed by Leitrim who are jointly managed by George Dugdale and Barney Breen.
Both McKeon and Tomas Beirne started for Leitrim in their success against New York earlier this month.
McKeon started at left half-back in that game and notched a point while Beirne shot over 0-2 during his stint at midfield.
The statement in full from the Leitrim county board reads:
As a result of breaches of discipline that have fallen below the strict code of standards as agreed by team management and players, four panel members have been excluded from the Leitrim Senior Football panel. There will be no further comment issued by Leitrim GAA on this matter.
What did they do?.
The Galway county board should have a look at their players. The player that was red carded for assaulting a player off the ball at the Match V Mayo, and the last Sunday was red carded in a club match should be dropped from the county panel.
They were drinking I think.
