CILLIAN KIELY SCORED six first half points as Offaly cruised to victory over Carlow in the first round of the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Minor Hurling Championship in Dr. Cullen Park this afternoon.
The Faithful were in complete control throughout and led 1-13 to 0-3 at half-time thanks in large part to Kiely’s free-taking.

Carlow fought back in the second half as Chris Nolan’s maximum reduced the deficit to seven points but Offaly held on and they’ll take on Laois next weekend.
Elsewhere Meath recovered from a 2-5 to 1-5 half-time deficit to beat Wicklow by five points in Páirc Tailteann.
The visitors were still in control in the second half – despite shooting into a strong wind — but the controversial sending off of Enda O’Donoghue proved the turning point.
In the day’s other fixture, Kildare will play Carlow in the next round after overcoming Westmeath 3-11 to 1-13 in Newbridge, Tadhg Forde among the goalscorers for the Lilywhites.
