LEINSTER ARE HOPEFUL that Brian O’Driscoll and Jamie Heaslip will be fit to face Clermont Avergne at Lansdowne Road this weekend.

The squad trained at UCD this morning ahead of the much-anticipated Heineken Cup showdown with the French heavy-hitters.

A decision on the availability of the key duo will be made following the captain’s run on Friday.

O’Driscoll injured his jaw in the final November international against Argentina at the Avvia Stadium.

Heaslip, meanwhile, picked up an ankle problem in last weekend’s loss to Clermont at the Stade Marcel Michelin.

He tweeted this pic of his damaged leg on the flight home to Dublin.

He also quoted legendary stuntman Evel Knievel to his 5,235 followers:

Bones heal, chicks dig scars, pain is temporary, glory is forever.

Leinster are currently one point clear at the top of Pool 2 and are expecting a crowd of over 40,000 for this weekend’s rematch.

In other team news, Sean O’Brien is expected to be available for selection despite a rib injury while his back row colleague Kevin McLaughlin has returned to light training.
