A SPECTACULAR HOLE-IN-ONE helped Lee Westwood ignite his round and propel himself into contention at the CIMB Classic at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club today.
The 41-year-old, who won the Malaysian Open on the same course in April, required a hybrid club on the tricky, into-the-wind 226-yard par three 11th hole and saw his tee shot land just ten feet short of the pin before rolling into the cup.
He then went onto record birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to finish on seven under par, three shots behind leader Billy Hurley at the halfway stage.
Speaking afterwards, the Englishman insisted he was unsure as to how many times he had recorded an ace in his career before but claimed it was in the region of 14.
Yesterday, Edoardo Molinari also achieved the feat on the European Tour at the BMW Masters in China.
