LEE CATTERMOLE TOOK advantage of some slack Tottenham defending to give Sunderland the lead in tonight’s Premier League encounter.

The midfielder finished well after Vlad Chiriches made the ill-advised decision to play the ball across his box.

Emmanuel Adebayor equalised shortly thereafter however, as he converted Christian Eriksen’s inch-perfect cross.

Tottenham then took the lead in the second half, with Eriksen the provider again, and Harry Kane getting the decisive touch on the cross ahead of Wes Brown.

Eriksen himself then got in on the act, making it 3-1 with a well-executed strike from 25 yards out, before Adebayor got his second, tapping home after Kane’s shot had been well saved by Mannone.

Gylfi Sigurdsson then completed the 5-1 rout in the dying stages, finishing well from close range after Sunderland failed to deal with a free kick.
