A LUIS SUAREZ-inspired Liverpool completed their second 5-0 win of the season against a below-par Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday.
The home side were utterly dominant over a makeshift Swansea outfit, with Michael Laudrup choosing to rest the likes of Michu, Ashley Williams and Nathan Dyer with next weekend’s Capital One Cup final in mind.
A penalty from Steven Gerrard, after Suarez was fouled in the Swans’ box by Kemy Agustien, got the ball rolling inside the first half, before further strikes from Philippe Coutinho, Jose Enrique, Suarez and a Daniel Sturridge spot-kick.

Liverpool could easily have be three or four in front at the break, with Sturridge particularly guilty of some glaring misses.
After a quiet opening period, the former Chelsea striker headed over the bar with the goal gaping from a brilliant whipped cross by Stewart Downing.
Moments later, Sturridge skipped past a number of challenges before the ball fell to full debutant Coutinho. The young Brazilian somehow skewed his shot when it looked easier to score.
Shortly afterwards, Agustien’s clumsy challenge on Suarez allowed Gerrard his opportunity to score from the spot, and he made no mistake against Michel Vorm.
Suarez was laying chances on a plate for Sturridge, but the 23-year-old could not take advantage as the half drew to a close, the Swansea defence holding firm against the red tide.
It took just 13 seconds of the second half for Liverpool to have their second, with Coutinho skipping away from Garry Monk and company before slotting past Vorm.
The best goal of the match came shortly afterwards, as Enrique, Sturridge and Suarez all combined with a series of deft touches before the left-back stabbed the ball home. It was a wonderful goal, full of intricate passes that bamboozled the Swansea backline.
Suarez was able to slalom his way past Kyle Bartley and Monk before easing the ball past Vorm for 4-0, and Sturridge completed the scoring from the penalty spot, Wayne Routledge having handled in the box.
Liverpool were reduced to ten men late in the game when, having used all their changes, substitute Fabio Borini had to leave the field with a suspected dislocated shoulder. That, however, was the only blip in an excellent team performance.
