Landmark: Albrighton scores 20,000th Premier League goal

The Villa winger’s 54th minute strike goes into the record books.

ASTON VILLA’S MARC Albrighton has been immortalised as the answer to a pub quiz question after scoring the Premier League’s 20,000th goal last night.

The 22-year-old capitalised on some shabby defending from Arsenal to equalise in the 54th minute before Yossi Benayoun’s late winner at Villa Park.

Brian Deane made history when he scored the very first goal of the new Premier League back in August 1992 – the Sheffield United striker headed home in the fifth minute against Manchester United.

A team wearing red and white stripes taking advantage of the long throw-in… not much has changed then.
