PETER SAGAN’S WAIT for a first stage win at the 2014 Tour de France continues after he was pipped on the line by Alexander Kristoff.
Kristoff won today’s 12th stage from Bourg-en-Bresse to Saint-Etienne with Sagan — who now has eight top-five finishes this year and holds a comfortable lead in the points race for the green jersey — in second.
Race leader Vincenzo Nibali still holds a lead of more than two minutes in the general classification after he and his nearest rivals Richie Porte and Alejandro Valverde all finished in the main bunch.
Ireland’s Nicolas Roche was 119th today and is 51st in the overall standings.
