Kobe Bryant on abusive Rutgers coach: 'I would've smacked the hell out of him'

The LA Lakers star had some stern words of advice for Mike Rice.

WE REPORTED LAST week on the abusive actions of Rutgers basketball coach, Mike Rice, that earned him a $50,000 fine and a royal sacking.

The coach was shown, in ESPN’s Outside the Lines, grabbing, shoving, kicking players, and throwing basketballs at their heads.

LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant was on Showtime Sports in the US last night and gave his forthright reaction about Rice’s unruly behaviour.

Asked by show host, Jim Rome, how he would handle such treatment, Bryant responded, “I would’ve smack the hell out of him, no question about it.”

Bryant added, “That’s abusive man, you can’t take that form of abuse. That’s crazy.” Watch the video here:

Bryant added, “The only people that had a licence to hit me was my mom, with a belt. That was it.”

Did she ever do that?” asked Rome.

“Hell yeah she did that,” responded the five-time NBA champ.
