RESULT: Dublin 1-16 Kilkenny 0-16

It’s back to O’Moore Park in Portlaoise tonight for the hurlers of Kilkenny and Dublin. Who will prevail in the replay after last Sunday’s drawn game? It’s an hour to throw-in for this provincial semi-final replay clash.

Dublin manager Anthony Daly has opted to give David O’Callaghan the nod at corner forward ahead of Conor McCormack. St Mark’s star O’Callaghan was a substitute in last weekend’s draw.

DUBLIN: Gary Maguire; Niall Corcoran, Peter Kelly, Paul Schutte; Stephen Hiney, Liam Rushe, Michael Carton; John Mc Caffrey, Joseph Boland; Conal Keaney, Ryan O’Dwyer, Danny Sutcliffe; David O’Callaghan, David Treacy, Paul Ryan.

Here’s the Kilkenny team for the game.

KILKENNY: Eoin Murphy (Glenmore); Conor Fogarty (Erins Own), JJ Delaney (Fenians), Jackie Tyrrell (James Stephens); Tommy Walsh (Tullaroan), Brian Hogan (O’Loughlin Gaels), Kieran Joyce (Rower-Inistioge); Cillian Buckley (Dicksboro), Michael Rice (Carrickshock); TJ Reid (Ballyhale Shamrocks), Richie Power (Carrickshock), Eoin Larkin (James Stephens); Walter Walsh (Tullogher-Rosbercon), Richie Hogan (Danesfort), Aidan Fogarty (Emeralds).

Manager Brian Cody makes three changes from the side that drew last Sunday in O’Moore Park in Portlaoise. Jackie Tyrrell comes back into the team at corner-back after recovering from a recent quad injury and he replaces the injured Paul Murphy.

TJ Reid is drafted in at wing-forward with Cillian Buckley switching to midfield as Lester Ryan drops to the bench. The final change sees Aidan Fogarty brought in at corner-forward instead of Colin Fennelly.

The Kilkenny subs have also been named for the game.

Subs: David Herity (Dunnamaggin), Lester Ryan (Clara), Colin Fennelly (Ballyhale Shamrocks), Paddy Hogan (Danesfort), Matthew Ruth (James Stephens), Padraig Walsh (Tullaroan), Willie Phelan (Dunnamaggin), Richie Doyle (Barrow Rangers), Ger Aylward (Glenmore), Mark Kelly (O’Loughlin Gaels), Joe Brennan (St Patrick’s).

Will the return of Tyrrell from injury be a huge boost to Kilkenny’s defence?

At the other end Walter Walsh sparkled for Kilkenny last week as he weighed in with 1-4 from play. Dublin need to try to stifle his threat on this occasion.

Westmeath’s Barry Kelly is the referee for tonight’s replay in Portlaoise.

It’s going to be interesting to see can Dublin replicate the performance levels of last week. They were particularly proficient in defence as they frustrated some of Kilkenny’s star men. Here’s five talking points from last Sunday’s drawn game.

Galway are already in this Leinster final which takes place next Sunday. Who will join them in the Croke Park clash?

And the match is underway in Portlaoise.

Great conditions for hurling in O’Moore Park this evening.

Dublin 0-1 Kilkenny 0-0: 2 mins – First blood to Dublin as David O’Callaghan fires over a point.

The St Mark’s club man did well to raise a white flag on that occasion.

Dublin 0-1 Kilkenny 0-1: 3 mins -TJ Reid ties the game with a point from a tight angle on the right wing. Confusion reigned as to whether the ball had gone between the posts but the score was given.

Reid of course was the hero for Kilkenny as he notched the leveling score last week.

Dublin 0-3 Kilkenny 0-1: 4 mins – Dublin are back in front courtesy of a point by the Ballyboden St Enda’s club man Paul Ryan and then O’Callaghan adds another.

Fine start by Dublin as Michael Rice shoots wide for Kilkenny.

Dublin 0-4 Kilkenny 0-2: 9 mins – Eoin Larkin taps over a close-range free for Kilkenny after the referee judged that Dublin goalkeeper Gary Maguire fouled the ball on that occasion. Paul Ryan had converted a free for Dublin before that after Danny Sutcliffe was fouled.

Dublin 0-5 Kilkenny 0-3: 11 mins – Eoin Larkin from a free and Conal Keaney from play swap points.

Dublin 0-6 Kilkenny 0-3: 14 mins – Fine point for Dublin by Paul Ryan to stretch their lead.

Dublin 0-6 Kilkenny 0-4: 15 mins – Larkin on the mark for Kilkenny to cut the gap to two. It’s been a good competitive opening so far.

Dublin 0-7 Kilkenny 0-4: 18 mins – Paul Ryan has been impressive so far for Dublin and he snaps over a free after Ryan O’Dwyer was fouled. Anthony Daly must be really happy with how things are going so far for his side.

Dublin’s ploy of withdrawing players behind the ball has paid dividends so far in establishing early dominance.

David Treacy off target with a chance to extend Dublin’s lead.

Things heating up on the sideline with an altercation between Dublin’s Ciaran Hetherton and Kilkenny’s Michael Dempsey. Matters have now calmed down.

Foul by Kilkenny’s Tommy Walsh on Dublin’s Danny Sutcliffe.

Dublin 0-8 Kilkenny 0-4: 24 mins – And Paul Ryan avails of the opportunity to send Dublin four points ahead with an accurate free.

Dublin 0-9 Kilkenny 0-4: 24 mins – And David O’Callaghan lofts over a beautiful point for Dublin from the right wing. They are in flying form and Kilkenny are struggling.

Colin Fennelly coming on for Kilkenny to replace Michael Rice. The Cats are trying to shake things up.

Paul Ryan wide with a long-range free for Dublin.

Dublin 0-9 Kilkenny 0-5: 26 mins – And Kilkenny’s captain Colin Fennelly makes an immediate impact after his introduction to tap over a neat point off his left hand side.

Johnny McCaffrey fires wide for Dublin from midfield.

Dublin 0-9 Kilkenny 0-6: 28 mins – Richie Power is now on the mark with a point for Kilkenny.

One change to tell you about from a few minutes ago is Kilkenny’s Lester Ryan replaces his injured teammate Cillian Buckley.

Dublin 0-10 Kilkenny 0-6: 29 mins – Paul Ryan smashes over a free for Dublin after Lester Ryan had fouled Danny Sutcliffe. Ryan was booked for that offence.

There’s been no let up from Dublin tonight and they have carried their splendid form from last Sunday’s drawn encounter.

Eoin Larkin strikes a ’65 wide for Kilkenny.

Dublin 0-10 Kilkenny 0-7: 31 mins – Larkin makes amends by converting a free. Dublin are playing into the wind but have fashioned a lead.

Dublin 0-11 Kilkenny 0-7: 32 mins – Another cracking point for Dublin from David O’Callaghan. This time it was from the left wing and he’s causing serious problems for the Kilkenny defence. He’s being marked by Conor Fogarty with Paul Murphy out injured tonight.

Wides on both sides from Dublin’s Paul Ryan and Kilkenny’s Lester Ryan.

Goal chance for Dublin but Paul Ryan’s shot is blocked by Eoin Murphy in the Kilkenny goal.

Half-Time: Dublin 0-11 Kilkenny 0-7: And that’s how it stands at the break with Dublin four points to the good.

Great start here by Dublin as Kilkenny look to be struggling. Can Dublin hold on? We’ll be back soon with the second-half action to find out.

We’re back underway for the second-half.

Dublin 0-11 Kilkenny 0-8: 37 mins – Eoin Larkin cuts the gap with a point for Kilkenny with Paul Ryan then striking a wide for Dublin.

Conor McCormack is on for Ryan O’Dwyer in the Dublin team.

Dublin 0-12 Kilkenny 0-8: 38 mins – Paul Ryan fires over a free for Dublin.

Dublin 0-12 Kilkenny 0-9: 40 mins – Eoin Larkin hits back with a point for Kilkenny from a free. It’s tight in Portlaoise.

Dublin 0-12 Kilkenny 0-10: 43 mins – Richie Power on the mark with a  point for Kilkenny.

Kilkenny have started the second-half strongly.

Dublin 0-13 Kilkenny 0-10: 45 mins – Paul Ryan is on target from a free for Dublin after David O’Callaghan was fouled.

That’s an important one as his free taking had been mixed.

Shane Durkin replaces Joey Boland on the Dublin team.

Dublin 0-13 Kilkenny 0-11: 47 mins – Eoin Larkin on the mark with a free for Kilkenny after Colin Fennelly is fouled.

Dublin 0-13 Kilkenny 0-12: 50 mins – Another converted free by Larkin after Richie Power is fouled. Kilkenny are surging back into contention with just the minimum between the teams.

Goal for Dublin by Danny Sutcliffe!

Dublin 1-13 Kilkenny 0-12: 52 mins – It’s the first goal of the game and what a crucial one it could be. Sutcliffe unleashed a cracking finish after David O’Callaghan’s shot had initially been cleared off the line.

Just when it looked like Kilkenny were getting on top, Dublin pounce for a big score at a big time in the game.

Paul Ryan misses the chance to grab a point from a free for Dublin.

Dublin 1-14 Kilkenny 0-12: 54 mins – A terrific point for Dublin from Mark Schutte. They’re now five points clear.

Mark Schutte had come on for his Cuala club mate David Treacy.

Dublin 1-14 Kilkenny 0-13: 55 mins – Kilkenny staying in touch thanks to a point from Eoin Larkin from a free.

Dublin 1-15 Kilkenny 0-13: 56 mins – Now it’s substitute Shane Durkin who splits the posts for Dublin.

Dublin 1-15 Kilkenny 0-14: 58 mins – Richie Power fires over a point for Kilkenny.

Matthew Ruth replaces Walter Walsh in the Kilkenny attack.

Ten minutes left, are Dublin on course for a famous win?

Galway await the winners of this game in the Leinster final, Tipperary await the losers in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

Padraig Walsh, brother of Tommy, is on for Kilkenny.

Dublin 1-15 Kilkenny 0-15: 65 mins – Larkin with a free cuts the gap to three.

Eamonn Dillon is on for Dublin.

Dillon replaces Paul Ryan for Dublin while Walsh replaces Jackie Tyrrell for Kilkenny.

Free in for Kilkenny, Richie Power is fouled.

Dublin 1-15 Kilkenny 0-16: 67 mins – The gap is down to two points with Eoin Larkin firing over his 11th of the night from a free for Kilkenny.

Ger Aylward on for Kilkenny instead of TJ Reid.

Simon Lambert on for Dublin.

Tense finale here. Great drama with only two points between the teams

Lambert has come on for Johnny McCaffrey.

Richie Power has been sent off, second yellow card for the Kilkenny man.

A rash challenge there by Power and Barry Kelly sends him to the line.

Free in for Dublin. Could this be the insurance score? Sutcliffe is fouled by Tommy Walsh.

Dublin 1-16 Kilkenny 0-16: 70 mins – Dillon points it for Dublin.

We’re in stoppage time.

It’s all over and Dublin have won!

Full-Time: Dublin 1-16 Kilkenny 0-16: Amazing result in Portlaoise as Dublin dump Kilkenny out of the Leinster championship.

Dublin go forward to face Galway in next Sunday’s Leinster senior hurling final in Croke Park.

While Kilkenny will face Tipperary next Saturday in the All-Ireland qualifiers in Nowlan Park. What a match that is going to be.

It’s Dublin’s first win over Kilkenny in the Leinster senior hurling championship since 1942.

That’s all from us on a big night for Dublin hurling. Thanks for joining us.

Killkenny perfecting the art of cheating. They are playing the hurl, tapping helmets, chopping etc constantly.

Aside from that, they introduced scrumming into the game, so much so it’s hard to watch it now- hurling was far better before KK’s success.
