No room for Shefflin or Fennelly as Kilkenny ring the changes for Galway clash

Now fewer than eight changes for the Cats.

BRIAN CODY AND his management team have made a  host of changes as Kilkenny get set to face Galway in Nowlan Park this Sunday.

Two weeks after topping Tipperary in a ten-goal thriller, the defending champions have made no less than eight changes for their Allianz National Hurling League Division 1A clash with the Tribesmen.

Eoin Murphy replaces David Herity in goal while Conor Fogarty, Michael Walsh, Jackie Tyrrell and Cillian Buckley are the fresh faces in defence.

Geoff Brennan comes into midfield while Richie Hogan and Joe Brennan take their place among the half-forwards.

Somewhat surprisingly, there’s no place for either Henry Shefflin or Colin Fennelly — who scored 3-5 from play last time out — in the 26 man squad.

KILKENNY TEAM TO PLAY GALWAY: Eoin Murphy (Glenmore); Conor Fogarty (Erins Own), Michael Walsh (Young Irelands), Jackie Tyrrell (James Stephens); Brian Kennedy (St Lachtains), Lester Ryan (Clara), Cillian Buckley (Dicksboro); Geoff Brennan (St Patrick’s), Padraig Walsh (Tullaroan); Walter Walsh (Tullogher Rosbercon), Richie Hogan (Danesfort), Joe Brennan (St. Patrick’s); Jonjoe Farrell (Thomastown), Mark Kelly (O’Loughlin Gaels), T.J. Reid (Ballyhale Shamrocks).
