KILDARE ENDED THEIR Division 2 losing streak tonight as they came away with a five-point win from Kingspan Breffni Park against home side Cavan.

The good news continued for Jason Ryan’s side as Daniel Flynn fired home their second goal to mark his first start for the county since July 2013 after a spell with AFL club Port Adelaide.

Eoghan O’Flaherty bagged the first-half goal for a Kildare team that trailed at the break by 0-8 to 1-4. The first-half saw Fionn Dowling miss a penalty for Kildare while Cavan were left reeling from the sending-off of Damien O’Reilly.

Kildare were also reduced to 14 men during the second-half when David Hyland was dismissed. But before that the Lilywhies had made a strong burst and had moved 1-12 to 0-12 ahead with ten minutes left before Flynn grabbed the second goal that sealed their success.

The headline “back scoring goals” is prob a bit misleading from a midfielder who wudnt even be the best point taker!…. Good win all the same! Was at the game, and thought Cavan have some very good technical players but lack in the physical part of the game! That will be there downfall come Ulster championship….I hope we push on and avoid relegation. Division 3 would be a disaster!

Anyone hear about the kildare minor who got hurt playing with his club, was invited in for physio treatment at training only to be made an example of in front of his team mates with the coach saying “this is what happens when you play with your club”? he was promptly told he was being kicked off the panel.why Kildare will never win an all ireland in microcosm.
