Ireland goalkeeper O'Hara joins Macclesfield on loan from Man United

The 22-year-old shot stopper has signed a season-long loan deal.

IRELAND GOALKEEPER KIERAN O’Hara has signed for League Two outfit Macclesfield Town on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The Ireland U21 shot stopper has been at Old Trafford since July 2012, following his move there from Urmston Town.

He signed a professional deal with United in summer 2014 and has had a couple of loan stints since then, his most recent a period at Morecambe.

Last season, O’Hara was a regular for the Red Devils’ reserves and he has featured in a few of the first-team’s Europa and Champions League squads over the past two years.

The 22-year-old was born in Manchester but qualifies to play for Ireland through his grandparents.

After impressing as the Ireland U21′s trusted number one, he was called into Martin O’Neill’s Ireland squad as one of eight uncapped players for their March friendly against Turkey.

“Kieran will claim the number one jersey and we wish him all the very best during his time at the Moss Rose,” Macclesfield wrote on their website.
