Kicking on: Welcome to our Rugby World Cup coverage

We’re ready for a run at rugby’s biggest prize this month in New Zealand. Here’s what we have in store.

WE’VE CULLED OUR squad to the bare 30, packed the travel adapters and undergone some intense acclimatisation.

Now, TheScore is set for a tilt at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The hosts kick off their bid for a much-overdue Webb Ellis victory on Friday morning before Declan Kidney’s Ireland get underway on Sunday.

So begins a six-week rugby-fest that will culminate in the final on 23 October in Auckland.

You won’t miss a tackle – or indeed kick – with our coverage on our new RWC2011 mini-site.  Here’s what we have in store over the next month-and-a-half:

  • A liveblog of every game throughout the tournament — including the hard yards: Fiji v Namibia at 4.30am on a Saturday morning? No problem.
  • An insight into the Irish camp with our bi-weekly player columns by Shane Jennings and Fergus McFadden.
  • Match reports and reaction from all Ireland’s games, sent from our man in New Zealand, Hugh Cahill.
  • TV commentator, Hugh, will also write from the Irish press-room every day as he follows the action throughout the competition.
  • Technical analysis of Ireland’s ties from former Leinster hooker, TheLineout Coach, Gavin Hickie.
  • A daily update from inside a cramped van by the Happy Camper, Sean FarrellTheScore’s Irish fan on the road in New Zealand.
  • We’ll saddle up with the 2wheels charity peloton as they tour the country on bikes — and send us regular pieces — between games and host cities.
  • Expert analysis from the likes of Mick Galwey and Mick Quinn.
  • Fixtures, scores and all the breaking news you need to stay ahead of the game on your PC or smartphone whether you’re in work, on the bus, or still in bed.  We don’t judge.
  • Much, much more besides. Follow us Twitter and find us on Facebook. Let’s play ball.
