'Let's get it on' - Khan reckons he's ready to fight Mayweather

The English boxer could be next in line to face the undefeated American.

BRITISH BOXER Khan says he wants to fight boxing star Floyd Mayweather despite his superb record in the sport.

The American took his career record to 45-0 on Saturday when he defeated Saul Alvarez on points in Las Vegas.

The win came despite Mayweather suffering a reported dislocated elbow during the bout, as he won by a majority decision.

Mayweather’s father raised the possibility of his son fighting Khan in the aftermath of the fight, which the Bolton-born boxer watched ringside.

And Khan – who still needs to fight Devon Alexander in December for the world welterweight title – says he would relish the opportunity of taking on boxing’s biggest name.

Floyd Snr wants his son to face me. Let’s get it on. I’ve never turned down any fight. Speed v speed,” Khan posted on his Twitter account.

However Khan’s coach says he can learn a lot from Mayweather before he thinks about facing him.

“If he is going to be really competitive, he has to show the same dedication and desire Floyd Mayweather shows,” he told The Times.

“If he doesn’t, he will have a tough night.”
