The qualifiers kick off on Saturday - here are the 12 key GAA fixtures this week

There are four football qualifiers taking place while Kilkenny and Galway do battle in the Leinster hurling semi-final.

THE ALL-IRELAND football qualifier action begins on Saturday, with Longford’s visit to Celtic Park the pick of the four games.

There are seven different competitions running this weekend, and Sunday’s Leinster hurling semi-final between Kilkenny and Galway is earmarked as the ‘not to miss’ clash.

The two counties renew rivalries in Tullamore as the Tribesman go in search of a place in their third consecutive provincial final, while the Cats are in pursuit of their first title in three years this summer.

There are also Munster, Leinster and Connacht football semi-finals taking place, with Cork and Kerry making their first championship appearances of 2014.

Galway travel to Markievicz Park on Saturday in the hope of setting up a crack at rivals Mayo in the Connacht decider. The county have not won a Connacht championship since 2008, a year on from Sligo’s famous win over them in the 2007 final.

There’s also minor hurling action in Leinster, while Sunday’s curtain-raiser in Tullamore is the Leinster club hurling league final between Westmeath’s Clonkill and Wexford’s Buffers Alley.
