ROBBIE KEANE BELIEVES that Kevin Doyle would be a major asset for MLS, having spoken to Colorado Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni about the 31-year-old’s ability.
Mastroeni contacted the Republic of Ireland captain to enquire about Keane’s international teammate, with the MLS Cup MVP giving Doyle a glowing recommendation.
“I got a call from the Rapids manager, Pablo,” Keane told reporters. “I used to play with him at Galaxy, so he asked me about Kevin. I highly recommended Kevin to him.
“He would certainly do well. If he goes over, it will be great for him. It will be great for the league, great for him, and I told Pablo that you could not wish to have a better person.
He’s a great guy off the pitch, works hard, works his socks off on the pitch, and is a handful. Kevin scores goals, so he would be perfect for them. If he goes to MLS I will be delighted to have him.”
Doyle is currently contracted to Wolves, but manager Kenny Jackett is eager to get one of the club’s highest earners off the books. “Our club, their club and the player himself want the best for themselves so finding common ground is what is going on,” Jackett told the club’s oficial website. ”If he goes, it will be a permanent deal.
“Kevin has been to Colorado to speak to them for a couple of days and those talks are ongoing. We are know nearer knowing whether it will happen or not. Where Kevin is in it and his own family and his own situation I don’t really know. You would have to ask him.”
The 2015 MLS season kicks off on Saturday, 7 March.
Coming from a midfielder with no goals and no assists this season, loves the sound of his own voice. Joeys a spoofer and a fraudster as dunphy would say.
Their form is absolutely rotten though. Not that I’m complaining. Who ever is against QPR is always a great bet for an accumulator!
Where did he say this?
