The anthem has been sung, the players are taking their positions, we’re nearly ready to go. This should be good!

THROW-IN: Kerry 0-0 Galway 0-0

We’re underway as Barry Cassidy throws in the ball in Croke Park.

2 mins  – Kerry 0-0 Galway 0-0

Galway with the first attack of the game but Kerry deal with it accordingly before attacking, and likewise circumstances at the other end. Both sides are settling into this and getting to grips with the wet conditions.

2 mins – Kerry 0-1 Galway 0-0

Nice opening score from Kerry. Kevin McCarthy pops it over after some good play with Paul Geaney.

5 mins – Kerry 0-1 Galway 0-0

Damien Comer and Geaney miss at either end, before Galway goalkeeper Ruairí Lavelle’s free-kick drops short.

7 mins – Kerry 0-1 Galway 0-0

Still nothing since Kerry’s opening score. We’ve had wides at both end. It was actually Michael Daly who started for Galway instead of Adrian Varley.

10 mins – Kerry 0-1 Galway 0-0

Both sides are struggling with the wet conditions in Croker but they’re making basic, basic mistakes too. The shooting so far has been very wayward. Still waiting for this game to spark to life.

12 mins – Kerry 0-1 Galway 0-1

Shane Walsh gets Galway up and running with a free from the ground. Easy.

Damien Comer and Jason Foley Laszlo Geczo / INPHO Laszlo Geczo / INPHO / INPHO

13 mins – Kerry 0-2 Galway 0-1

Fossa’s David Clifford with a nice point off his right.

14 mins – Kerry 0-2 Galway 0-2

We’re level. Ian Burke picks up the broken ball and slots it over the bar, helped along by Shane Murphy’s fist.

17 mins – Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-2

The Tribesmen go ahead for the first time. Paul Conroy gets through fairly easily to send an effort over the bar.

19 mins – Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-2

Nearly 20 minutes gone and just five scores posted. This isn’t great, is it?

Paul Conroy and Seán O’Shea both go for the ball and collide and play continues, leaving Kevin Walsh animated on the line. Conroy looks seriously injured with the ambulance truck on the field.

Peter Cooke comes in for Conroy as the players huddle and wait for play to commence.

The paramount importance is of course that Conroy is tended to accordingly. It seems quite serious, we’ve had a few minutes of a delay.

25 mins -  Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-2

We’re back underway. Galway waste another chance while Murphy sends his kick-out over the line. Not great viewing at all.

28 mins -  Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-2

Galway are in possession more, throwing the ball around the middle but not looking like they’ll do a whole pile else. The ball eventually lands into Shane Walsh who has a good chance to pop it over, he turns nicely but fires it wide.

30 mins -  Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-3

Kerry capitalise on a Galway mistake around the middle, run the ball into David Clifford and he slots over another.

James O’Donoghue is shown a yellow card for a dangerous sliding tackle on Peter Cooke.

33 mins -  Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-3

More poor finishing from Galway, as they send another good chance wide. They’re making opportunities, but wasting them. David Wynne comes in as Declan Kyne receives medical attention.

35 mins – Galway 0-3 Kerry 0-3

We’ll have eight minutes of additional time after that delay for Conroy’s injury.

36 mins -  Kerry 0-4 Galway 0-3

Shane Murphy brilliantly strikes a free over to put Kerry one up.

37 mins -  Galway 0-4 Kerry 0-4

A direct ball in to Damien Comer, he swings around and fires the ball over. Could this be the game coming to life slightly?

38 mins – Kerry 0-5 Galway 0-4

Some lovely foot-passing on show from Kerry before Paul Geaney strikes the end product between the posts.

40 mins – Kerry 0-5 Galway 0-5

Walsh again nails a free from the ground, raising the white flag for the second time and leveling matters.

41 mins – Galway 0-6 Kerry 0-5

Comer plays a lovely ball into Ian Burke, and he clips over with his right foot. Much better.

HALF-TIME: Galway 0-6 Kerry 0-5

Jason Foley and Ian Burke James Crombie / INPHO James Crombie / INPHO / INPHO

So…. eh… thoughts?

Some of the first-half action:

RTÉ Radio are reporting that Paul Conroy has broken his leg. Terrible news for any player, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Attendance in Croke Park is 30,740.

SECOND-HALF: Galway 0-6 Kerry 0-6

We’re underway again and Paul Geaney draws first blood with a lovely point.

37 mins – Galway 0-6 Kerry 0-6

We’ve had one half-time sub — Dingle’s Tom O’Sullivan is in for Brian O’Beaglaoich.

38 mins – Galway 0-7 Kerry 0-6

That’s more like it! Galway looking good on the attack with Seán Kelly popping a fine score to cap it.

40 mins – Galway 0-7 Kerry 0-6

Nervy enough moment for the Connacht champions there as Geaney’s effort drops short and there’s a scramble but Lavelle does well to deal with it. They’re running the ball now though and look the more promising side.

43 mins – Galway 0-7 Kerry 0-6

A bad effort from a long-range free goes straight wide from the boot of Kerry keeper Murphy. Michael Daly saw yellow for the foul before that. Comer slices another wide at the other end.

45 mins – Galway 0-7 Kerry 0-7

A burst of energy and a burst of speed from Stephen O’Brien sees him slot over an inspiring score to cheers from the Kingdom crowd. O’Donoghue hits the posts moments after as Kerry have the momentum.

47 mins – Galway 0-8 Kerry 0-7

Comer drives straight at the Kerry defence and brilliantly draws the free, with Killian Young shown yellow for the challenge. Walsh boots the free over and Galway are in front again.

Anthony Maher is on for Jack Barry.

48 mins – Galway 0-8 Kerry 0-7

A nervy moment for Kerry there with Murphy forced to come well off his line and clear the ball on the ground. There’s a bit more bite to this now, it’s gotten a lot louder around the ground.

49 mins – Galway 0-8 Kerry 0-8

Clifford kicks his third of the game after some nice build-up play involving McCarthy and O’Donoghue.

Damien Comer and Jason Foley Laszlo Geczo / INPHO Laszlo Geczo / INPHO / INPHO

Shane Walsh Bryan Keane / INPHO Bryan Keane / INPHO / INPHO

52 mins – Kerry 0-8 Galway 0-8

A textbook effort from Geaney strays wide shortly after Micheal Burns comes off the bench for James O’Donoghue.

54 mins – Kerry 0-8 Galway 0-8

Galway are playing the ball around cleverly and patiently waiting for the right moment to break through, but in the end it’s over-complicated and Kerry shut it down.

Varley is on for Daly.

55 mins – Galway 0-9 Kerry 0-8

Classy stuff from Shane Walsh, a super individual score as he cuts in from out wide and sends the ball over the bar to put Galway in front.

57 mins – Galway 0-10 Kerry 0-8

Declan Kyne comes forward from corner back to get his name on the score sheet after some remarkable work from Seán Kelly in the build-up.

RED CARD! A straight red for Killian Young. He was previously on a yellow.

Barry Cassidy made a dash down the field there to have a chat with his umpires for what seems to have been an off-the-ball incident. Hearing that it was striking.

60 mins – Galway 0-10 Kerry 0-9

Clifford gets his fourth of the day and 14-man Kerry are within a point of Galway.

63 mins – Galway 0-11 Kerry 0-9

Excellent play from Galway there as they patiently build up and Varley puts his side in the driving seat with a crucial score.

Few subs:

Galway - Gary O’Donnell is on for Gareth Bradshaw, while Patrick Sweeney replaces Damien Comer.

Kerry - Donnachadh Walsh for Sean O’Shea, Kieran Donaghy for Jason Foley, Barry John Keane for Kevin McCarthy.

66 mins – Galway 0-12 Kerry 0-9

Three-point cushion for Galway, Varley with another but he’s down and looks like he’s in trouble with injury after the kick.

69 mins – Galway 0-13 Kerry 0-9

Kerry concede a needless free and again, Shane Walsh makes no mistake from the spot. His fifth score of the day.

70 mins – Galway 0-13 Kerry 0-9

Patrick Sweeney sees yellow for messing off-the-ball. They’ve just announced five minutes additional time.

RED CARD! Eoghan Kerin is shown a second yellow for a deliberate trip on Clifford. He was injured in the process and limps off the field with the medical team.

Elsewhere, Tom Flynn is gone too after being shown a black card.

GOAL! Galway 1-13 Kerry 0-9

74 mins – Galway 1-13 Kerry 0-10

Patrick Sweeney rattles the net to wrap the game up for Galway. The absolute speed of Shane Walsh creates the move, Murphy produces a brilliant save on the first effort but Sweeney makes no mistake second time round.

Kerry pull one back at the other end.

76 mins – Galway 1-13 Kerry 1-10

David Clifford pulls on the ball on the ground to grab Kerry a consolation goal. He’s been superb today, finishes with 1-5.

FULL-TIME: Galway 1-13 Kerry 1-10

Gareth Bradshaw with Paul Murphy and Paul Geaney Laszlo Geczo / INPHO Laszlo Geczo / INPHO / INPHO

Not only is it a first championship win over Kerry since 1965 for Galway, it’s also their first championship victory in Croke Park since 2001. Not bad at all.
