Gilroy and Zebo called into Ireland squad as Earls anxiously awaits scan result

Keith Earls hobbled out of Munster’s win over Edinburgh with a knee injury.

IRELAND COACH JOE Schmidt has called up Craig Gilroy and Simon Zebo to bring his extended Six Nations squad to 46 names.

The Ulster and Munster wings both helped their sides seal home quarter-finals at the weekend and come in as cover for Keith Earls.

The Limerick native was helped from the field during the first half of Munster’s 38 – 6 win over Edinburgh with a knee injury and is awaiting results of a scan on the injury.

Munster coach Rob Penney’s initial reaction to the injury yesterday was that it would not keep Earls sidelined for long, though he stopped himself making further assumptions until the scans were completed.
