KATIE TAYLOR’S BID to become a world champion will continue this weekend as she enters the ring with Bulgarian Milena Koleva in Manchester for her fourth professional fight.
The pair were due to clash on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s win over David Haye in London earlier this month, but former world title challenger Koleva was forced to pull out due to injury.
Taylor made light work of Monica Gentili with a fifth-round stoppage of the Italian at The 02 Arena but is likely to face a far stiffer task on Saturday night.

“If I’m going to be targeting World title fights then I need to be progressing in every fight so I’m really excited about this weekend,” Taylor said.
“I definitely think it will be a step up with the fight being scheduled for eight rounds and also the quality of the opponent.
“Koleva’s a good challenge for me at this point. I’ve watched some of her fights and she has been around the block, been in with some of the best girls in the world and always pushed them very hard so I’m expecting a tough fight.”
Taylor returned to the US after her last fight to continue training with coach Ross Enamait ahead of her appearance on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s rematch with Jorge Linares at the Manchester Arena.
“I definitely feel like I’ve made some adjustments and improvements again in the last few weeks,” she added.
“You have to improve all the time because as you progress the fights are only going to get tougher and tougher. It’s been a busy time but I’m feeling very good and it’s great to have these opportunities.”
The fight will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
