KATIE TAYLOR SILENCED the home crowd as she continued her irrepressible march towards a sixth straight European Championship title in Bucharest.
The Olympic champ remains on course for a gold medal rematch against London rival Sofya Ochigava, but first she must beat Bulgaria’s Denitsa Eliseeva in the semi-finals on Friday.

Taylor sealed her place in the final four with a TKO win against Romania’s Lavina Ioana-Mera this afternoon.
Mera, who lived in Ireland and boxed out of Michelstown BC in Cork, was forced to take standing counts in the third round and at the start of the fourth.
When Taylor caught her again a few moments later, the referee stepped in to stop the contest.
There was disappointment for Ireland’s other quarter-finalists as Michaela Walsh (54kg) and Joanna Lambe (57kg) lost out on decisions against Elena Savelava and Svetlana Staneva.
Ireland’s other remaining medal hopeful, Callan’s Clare Grace, will face Stacey Copeland of England in the 69kg semis on Friday.
